Video: Protection against fuel contamination
If you’ve seen our video about fuel contamination you’ll understand how fuel can become contaminated and how this can be bad for business. But how can you get protection against fuel contamination? What can be done to protect your fuel against the water, diesel bug and solid particulates lurking in the depths of your storage tanks? The solution is a Fuel Conditioning Programme by IPU.
Our short video explains the four stages of the programme and how that can keep your diesel clean and dry.
IPU’s Fuel Conditioning Programme
Why does fuel need conditioning?
As explained in our first video, the diesel we now buy is made up of 93% petrochemical diesel and 7% FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester). FAME is a biodiesel that reduces the damage caused by burning the fuel. Whilst this is great the environment it is widely accepted that under normal conditions modern diesel will remain in a usable condition for just 6 to 12 months..
As diesel ages it begins to suffer from three main types of contamination:
Depending on the type and severity of the contamination, could cause an engine failure.
Fortunately, this doesn’t mean you have to dispose of your fuel twice a year. If you introduce a comprehensive fuel conditioning programme you can store it for much longer. For more in depth information use this link.
