IPU and IFT to set the standard for diesel performance
IFT and IPU’s new partnership improves the fuel performance in diesel engines.
IPU Group‘s Fuel Conditioning Division is pleased to announce the launch of a strategic partnership with International Fuel Technology (IFT), the leading developer of enhanced fuel additives. The partnership will combine IFT’s flagship product, ADV+, with IPU’s fuel conditioning expertise to improve fuel performance in diesel engines.
Improve economy by up to 6%
ADV+ is a tried and tested fuel stabiliser which increases an engine’s fuel economy by up to 6%. IFT’s exhaustive testing has proven that the best results are available when ADV+ is added to clean fuel. This is where IPU’s fuel conditioning programme comes in.
Andy Whitehouse, Director of Fuel Conditioning at IPU, says “ADV+ is a very powerful diesel additive. To see the best performance it’s important that you add it to clean fuel; adding it to dirty fuel is like waxing a dirty car.”
The combination of ADV+ and clean storage tanks will make significant savings for high-volume fuel users such as haulage and transport companies. ADV+ can even be added to vehicles on the move using an auto-dosing system developed by IFT and IPU’s Engine Controls Division.
ADV+ has added advantages for any company that stores diesel for more than six months. IPU’s unique four-step conditioning programme (test-clean-polish-stabilise) specifies that clean fuel needs to be stabilised to preserve its condition. By isolating the trace water that is present in all modern biodiesel, ADV+ is the perfect fuel stabiliser. Using it in IPU’s fuel conditioning programme helps stored fuel meet the ISO 4406 and EN 590 standards for particulate and water contamination.
IPU’s fuel conditioning programme starts by testing the existing diesel within the tank to identify contaminants and assess water content. If the diesel fails to meet ISO 4406 and EN 590 standards the fuel is considered unreliable and could cause damage to an engine. IPU’s ClearTank service cleans the fuel and removes water, solid contamination and microbial growth (a.k.a. the diesel bug).
Once clean and ‘dry’ (i.e. free of water), IPU’s Diesel Defence on-tank polishing systems keep fuel clean through a regular programme of circulation and filtration. It is during this stage that ADV+ is added as a fuel stabiliser to improve fuel economy.
Andy Whitehouse continues: “ADV+ and IPU’s ClearTank service complement each other beautifully. Since the introduction of biodiesel in 2011, stored fuel has a shelf life of just 6 to 12 months. Beyond that, it becomes too contaminated to be reliable.”
“It is vital to introduce a regular conditioning programme to ensure equipment is reliable and protected.”
